New Designer – Tiger Lily Press

Have you checked out the newest Designer at Quilters Warehouse? Nicole Chambers-Kaya of Tiger Lily Press has a variety of designs from table runners to totes to full size quilts.

Do you have some favorite fabric that you really want to use but just don’t want to cut it up? Kabuki is the perfect table topper pattern to showcase those favorites. It’s fairly easy and will go together quickly. There are also instructions for place mats.

Autumn Splendor is a table runner with a more intricate looking design.  Large prints would work well for the center of the blocks.  The colors you choose for the rest of the fabrics will bring the project to life.   Don’t limit yourself to Autumn…. you could make one to suit each season.

And now for something completely different:  Ba-Da-Bing…Ba-Da-Boom…It’s a Basket.    You’ll find so many uses for these baskets.  Make any size you want. And any theme you want.  Use as a gift or as gift wrap!  Organize your sewing room.  Dress up a potted plant.  Put one on your dresser for makeup or nail polish bottles. How about one near your front door for keys?
Simple Quilts is a book with step by step instructions for 20 quilts.  They range in size from lap size to queen size.  Each quilt is shown in two color ways.  If you are new to quilting you will learn construction techniques and have some stunning quilts to show for your efforts.

Tiger Lily Press has lots more projects so browse away, and then browse through the rest of the quilt patterns at Quilters Warehouse.   And don’t forget – only a few more days to take advantage of the special pricing on the 6500P Memory Craft Janome Sewing Machine.

New Designer – Valley Quilt Studio

Caron Carlson is an award winning quilter who says she loves her work and it shows!!  Her Valley Quilt Studio patterns look intricate but are not difficult and they have been thoroughly tested.  Many of the patterns offer more than one size and more than one layout.

Lazy Log Cabin is constructed with a block that is so easy to make and once you’ve made the blocks, there are soooo many ways to lay out the blocks.  You might not be able to stop at just one quilt.  The pattern includes instructions for two sizes: a lap quilt and a full/queen size.

This quilt, Split Decision, looks like keeping track of the colors in the block would be so confusing but it’s a really simple quilt… another one with different looks from different layouts.  Aside from layout options you’ll also get tips on color selection.  And, again, two sizes! – lap and queen.

Is there a fabric that you are just dying to use in a border? Here’s the quilt for that!  The large blocks inside the body of Stars Over The Prairie quilt could use the same border fabric or you could use something that complements the border. Oh! and then a second quilt that reverses those fabrics and then hang them side by side, or on two twin beds.

Shooting Starz has the coolest trick… that inner border looks complicated and interesting, but it’s really set on point blocks! Finish the blocks and it’s done!  Such a neat trick! You’ll be proud of this quilt no matter your experience but it’s designed for a confident beginner!  What are you waiting for?!

Karen Eckmeier & Quilted Lizard – New Designer

The newest designer at Quilters Warehouse is Karen Eckmeier of Quilted Lizard.  And yes, she does have quilt patterns with lizards! - fun and whimsical lizards.  Many of Karen’s patterns are “Accidental Landscapes” which are a unique method for creating art quilts with minimum fuss.  You’ll love the results.

Farms & Fields has a peaceful look to it.  Pick your season and then select your favorite greens or golds and start “painting with fabric.”  You’re an artist!

Do you want to get away… maybe to a sunny beach?  Accidental Landscapes – Beaches will take you away.  You can personalize your project with your favorites – a seagull or two, a sailboat, a lighthouse to name a few.

Quilted Lizard’s landscapes are so quick and easy to make. It just takes some free form rotary cutting and then topstiching. Your landscape will appear before your eyes – like watching a Polaroid develop!

Do you have a golfer in the family?  Accidental Landscapes – Golf Courses would make a great gift for their office or den.  Maybe you could get really creative and make it look like their favorite course or their favorite hole at their favorite course.  How well do you know your golfer?!

Lest you think Landscapes are all Karen does, here’s more . . .

Baby Wheels is not a landscape but it’s still quick and easy!  A few bright colors and some curves and you have a baby quilt or a lap quilt, your choice.

Here’s a whimsical pattern, a lizard in the midst of what looks like a stained glass window.  It’s easier than it looks and the finished piece has the look of reverse applique.

Browse all of Quilted Lizards patterns and let your inner artistic self out!

Purse-O-Nalities: Bag patterns YOU can make YOURS

Our new designer this week is Linda Rould from Purse-O-Nalities of Palm Harbor. She has handbag designs that will really wow you.  They are so varied and they lend themselves to YOU putting YOUR “purse-o-nal” touch on them.  Linda believes you can be YOU can be the designer too.  The sizes are many and so are the styles . . . from change purse, to small purse, to large purse, to mega bag, to back pack . . . she has it all.   Several of Linda’s designs use a “bag within a bag” technique that creates extra pockets and a really neat look.

A Tote-all Purse-O-Nality is the perfect example.  The bright yellow inside bag contracts nicely with the floral exterior bag and you get four large pockets when you sew them together.

You could make one for each season. . .  Bright red inner bag with large scale pattern in a Christmas theme,  Soft green inner bag with soft floral pattern for Spring.  The pictured fabrics would work great for Summer . . . you get the idea.

Here’s a classic pattern, aptly named The Classic Purse-O-Nality.  It’s small enough that you don’t feel like you are hauling a tote around but it’s big enough to carry what you need.  And, as most of Linda’s patterns are, it’s easy to customize – you pick the number of pockets you want the purse to have.

And here’s a quilty tote.  A Blooming Purse-O-Nality will satisfy your urge to create a quilty project and you’ll have a great tote that has so many ways to make it suit your needs.

Check out all of the purse designs and you’ll probably find several you just have to have.

Bargello and More – New Desinger Karen Gibbs

Bargello quilts are so eyecatching and beautiful.  Their wonderful flow of color is captured in many of Karen Gibbs designs.  She is the force behind The Quilt Studio and her patterns make the addition of bargello components simple to do.

In Bargello Lighthouse the water shows movement with the use of bargello.  This is a perfect pattern to start with if you’ve never tried this technique before.  The instructions include many designer tips that will not only help with this quilt but with others as well.

Ever made a rail fence quilt that looked like this?!  WOW!

This is Bargello Rails and it looks like stained glass, doesn’t it?  It’d be hard to make just one of these when it turns out so stunning.

Penquins of Parade is just right for a twin size bed.  The peguins will march along the edges of the bed. The quilt is long enough that the bargello will be the pillow cover with enough to tuck under a bit.

Substitute any favorite critter fabric for the penquins and you’ll be able to please the fussiest child.  This would make a great quilt for a college student too, with sport-themed fabric and the school colors.

And for Halloween…. The Diva  (also check our her Entourage)

and Christmas… Santa

If you like this Santa wallhanging there are two other winter-themed wallhanging that would look great together.

And of course, after you look at all of the patterns by The Quilt Studio, be sure to check out the rest of the quilt patterns available at Quilters Warehouse.

Cookie’s Creations – New Designer – Quilts AND Cookies!

Valerie Burton of Cookie’s Creations is the latest new designer at Quilters Warehouse.  I know your mouth is watering thinking about those cookies but we’re going to talk quilts first.   Valerie is multi-faceted so her patterns range from pincushions to full size quilts.  We’ll start small and work our way up…

Little pumpkin pincushions! Aren’t they CUTE?! And ’tis the season!

As the name, Pumpkin Patch Trio, suggests there are three sizes included in the pattern.  Too cute to just use in the sewing room.   Put a few of these on the table for fall.

Moving up a size… Flying Pinwheels – Baby Style

This quilt finishes 39″ X 54″ and is fun and easy to make.  It would make a great wall hanging for a baby’s room.  And what toddler wouldn’t want to snugglel under it while they finger the 3-D pinwheels.

Here’s another seasonal pattern. . . Countdown to Trick or Treat. You’ve heard of and Advent Calendar, right.  Same idea, just that it’s for Halloween.  If you hurry you can make it in time.  Or if you’re like me, start it now and it’ll be ready really early for next year. (Well, if I’m honest, maybe it’ll get finished at the last minute, next year, but I’ll start this year.)

Here’s a different quilt… Memories of Dad.  It’s a quilt made of bow-tie blocks, made with real neckties.  This could be a really special quilt.  Or if you have a bunch of wild neckties from the 70′s, a really funny quilt.

This next quilt was designed for a new fabric line from Moda called Basic Grey.  The fabrics are much more colorful than the name implies!  This quilt is called Urban Garden and includes 3-D pinwheels, applique and more.

I’m sure you’ve noticed all those pink hearts on the patterns… that’s because Valerie Burton is a breast cancer survivor (TWICE!) and she donates 10% of the profit from her patterns to the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Now, for the cookies.  Valerie has two recipes for cookies on her website, Cookies Creations so bake some up and sit down in front of your computer with your cookies and milk (or coffee!) and browse all the quilt patterns at Quilters Warehouse.  Then when you are recharged with all that sugar (and caffeine) you can hit the sewing room running.
