Christmas In July – Part Three

Christmas is exactly six months away. If you started sewing for Christmas earlier this month you probably have an item or two finished already.  Doesn’t that feel good?!  Here’s a few more suggestions to help you continue on your way.  Or to give you a push if you haven’t started yet!

I love this fabric.  I’ve used it in so many projects.  As an accent, a background, a border.  It’s a pretty color with a pretty, understated design.  Love it!

Here’s a beautiful tone on tone red fabric.  Happy little swirls sprinkled with little stars in a gorgeous red…. not an “in your face” red, but a dark, muted red.

Can you hear the bells ringing?  A mottled green background with gold bells scattered all over – can’t you see it paired with the gold fabric above?

Never A Pair! designed by Mary Kerr makes a cute lone mitten or a lone stocking… who knows where the mate has gone.   Decorate your tree or give as gifts.

If you need a new tree skirt One Crazy Christmas is a good choice.  You’ll get instructions for three projects…. a tree skirt, a wall hanging, and a stocking.  Crazy quilting and reverse applique are used on all three items.

Folk Art Christmas measures 55″ x 57″.  It’s so colorful and cheerful.  Now is the time to start on this one to be sure it’s finished in plenty of time to hang for the holiday season.

Go pour yourself a nice tall glass of iced tea or cool lemonade and cool off looking at all the Christmas patterns and Christmas fabric.

Olde Cedar Chest Quilting Fabric and Free Pattern

Fabric designer Faye Burgos creates beautiful floral collections for Marcus Brothers. One of her latest collections is Olde Cedar Chest. Large floral printin antique tones of brown and pink with a bit of sage green thrown in, anda small floral print in the same colors are the focus fabrics.

Subtle stripes appear on the background of the larger floral.

A plaid on the diagonal jazzes things up.

A green leafy print for a little pop.

This dot spattered printcomes with a pink background and a tan background.

This tone on tone also comes in pink.

Here’s a table topper from some of these fabrics. Measuring 36″ square, it’s quick and easy to make.

Three fat quarters (small floral, plaid, and tone on tone pink) plus a yard of tan and a yard of dots on pink background will complete the quilt and leave enough of the dotty pink for binding. Leave a comment with your e-mail address and we’ll send you the pattern in pdf format.

A Perfect Match: Batik Cascade And Landscape Quilt Patterns

The Batik Cascade Quilt Fabric line from Avlyn Fabrics are available in several colors. Each one cascades from light to dark across the width of fabric giving you several fabrics in one. These are just perfect for use in Landscape Quilt Patterns.

Coastlines is number 6 in the Accidental Landscapes series from the Quilted Lizard. Easy construction (no templates needed!) yields a one of a kind landscape quilt.

Using Batik Cascade Baby Blue will give you a full range of blue for the ocean.

Save the leftover blue for the sky in Golf Courses. You can make good use of Batik Cascade Grass in this quilt. Use it for the trees, the green, the fairway and the rough. Wow… all from one piece of fabric!

West Coast & Lagoon quilt landscape scenes have colorful skies and one features a sandy beach. Batik Cascade Cerise will give you many different shades for the beautiful sunsets. And Batik Cascade Khaki will work great for the beach areas.

The change in shade in all of the Batik Cascade colors moves from the most pale shade to a very deep dark shade. These fabrics will be useful in so many quilt projects. They are great for applique, giving your flowers from flat to full of interest and depth. Even simple log cabin blocks will take on a certain pizzazz. Try a few and have fun experimenting.
