Winner Of Backyard Friends Quilt Pattern

Congrats to Jeanie who won the “early bird” prize of Backyard Friends!  The random number generator selected comment number 3.  Jeanie said “Sweet pattern. And when the winds of winter begin to howl, this would be a great project reminder of the warmer weather to follow!”.

A bird sitting in front of his bird house, a bee buzzing around, and a few tulips in a pot (is that a lady bug on the flower pot?) make a cute wallhanging. By the time you finish this pattern you’ll be hooked on paper piecing if you aren’t already.

Have fun with your pattern Jeanie!

Here are two more patterns from MH Designs that we’ll be giving away.

Fall Wreath  This colorful wall hanging is season appropriate!  Hurry though, because you know how quickly winter will follow.

Animal Grow Chart

An adorable chart for tracking your little ones’ growth.  Are your “little ones” all grown up?  Then it’s perfect for the grandkids.

One person will win both patterns.  The rule for this giveaway:  Leave a comment and tell us what color will dominate your fall wreath when you make it.  A random number generator will select the winner from all comments posted now through midnight Friday.

Jacket Patterns For Fall Weather

Before we know it we’ll be experiencing fall weather with cooler temperatures and the need for a jacket.   Make your own and you’ll have just the look you want.

Are you bold enough to make and then wear this hot pink Starstuck Jacket?   Semi-fitted, it falls just below the waist and features an easy zipper front.  Tone it down a bit by using a russet brown with deep gold stars or maybe navy with white or red stars.

The Shabby Chenille Jacket looks cute and feminine with floral cotton lining.  A fast, easy to make jacket that’s oh so comfy!  The soft pastel paired with the floral lining means it will work for Spring, too.

The Northern Lights Hooded Jacket is loose fitting and comfortable.  Zipper front, side seam pockets and a drawstring hood create a useful piece of outerwear.

Log cabin blocks really dress up the top of this Cabin Dance Jacket.   Smaller blocks accent the ends of the sleeves.  You’ll be toasty warm, stylish and the envy of all the quilters you know!  Jacket features a zipper front (add the star zipper pull for more pizazz) dropped shoulders and side seam pockets.

What little girl would be able to resist this Little Princess Jacket?!  So cute and sweet… the little scallops and fun buttons really dress it up.  Jacket has an attached hood, elastic waist and cuffs, zipper front, dropped shoulders and side seam pockets.

There are dozens more jacket patterns – there is sure to be one (or more!) that you’ll like.

Fall Home Decor Patterns

Some of us are still experiencing a heat wave but Fall really will be here before we know it!  It’ll be time to put away the watermelon theme placemats and the sailboat wall hanging and replace them with your favorite fall quilts.    And time to make something new to add to your collection.

Fall Glory is a two for one quilt pattern.  The large Fall Glory quilt (54″ x 67.5″) and the small Acorn Trail quilt (48″ x 59.5″) are both perfect as wall hangings.   You could also toss them across a couch or easy chair for snuggling under on cool autumn evenings.  Applique instructions are given for both hand and machine.

Measuring just 15″ square, this small Fall Wreath really packs a punch of color.  Foundation piecing makes the construction easy and precise.

With Perennial Favorites you can make a 24″ x 40″ Fall table runner and have instructions (including applique patterns) for a Christmas runner and a Spring/Summer table runner.  You’ll be set for the year!

Anne Cosgrove’s book All For Fall will give you quilts to make for this Fall, and some for next Fall too.  Projects include large quilts, wall hangings, pillows, table runner, table topper, placemats and more.  Anne repeats many of the design elements in the different items so if you make more than one your pieces will complement one another for a beautiful coordinated Fall look.

After you check out these and other quilt patterns, look at the Vine Creek and Gobble Gobble quilt fabric collections…. they are perfect for Fall projects.

Christmas Quilt Patterns

Wouldn’t you just love to have a full sized quilt to hang this holiday season?  If you start now you’ll finish in plenty of time with no pressure.

Folk Art Christmas is a bright and cheery quilt that will welcome friends and family to your home.   Applique is used to create blocks with hearts and holly, ornaments and pineapples, a house with a wreath on the door and a decorated tree.  Finishing at 55″ x 57″.

The Magic of St. Nick has lots of Old Worlk charm and has a bit of a sampler look to it.  The blocks are constructed with various methods: piecing, foundation piecing, template piecing and applique.   You can choose the number of candles in the candle blocks.  The center of the quilt will really stand out with ultra suede on St Nick clothes and a dimensional beard.

Choose your fabrics carefully for Winter’s Stars and you’ll be able to leave this quilt hanging even after the holidays are over.  The plain blocks that alternate with the pieced stars are just right for showing off a favorite print.

The Twelve Days of Christmas is the kind of quilt that will generate a great deal of interest with all the detail that it shows.  Hang this now and your grandchildren will have special memories of Christmas at Grandma’s.   If you ever wanted to make an heirloom quilt this just might be the one.

You know this is just a sampling and there are lots more Christmas Quilt Patterns available.  And if you can’t quite get into the Christmas spirit yet, browse all the other quilt patterns at QuiltersWarehouse.

The Barnyard Ladies Quilt Patterns

As a fairly recent transplant from big city to wide open country, I just love the look of the Barnyard Ladies Quilt Patterns by Sue Pritt of Sweet Season Quilts.   Like the Painted Ladies and the Shop Ladies series, the Barnyard Ladies are individual quilts but they are designed to connect to form larger wallhangings.  Make just one, or connect two, three or all four to suit yourself.

The Buggy Barn is framed by bigger than life sunflowers.  The barn itself houses an antique buggy, a “two-wheeler” and is topped by a cupula.  A collie sits patiently out front, waiting for a ride in the country.

The Quilt Loft belongs on the Barn Quilt tour with it’s star block hanging just below the peak of the barn.  A treadle machine holds a WIP while baby lambs spin their own wool.  Morning glories climb in the foreground.  Wouldn’t you just love to sew here?

It looks like the rooster is scolding the horse for even thinking about sampling the apples that sit in front of the Country Stable.  The hens are upstairs, busy chatting away instead of laying their eggs.  All this fronted by beautiful pink hollyhocks.

The Milk Shed houses more than just cows.  The barn kitty is enjoying the view from the hayloft and way up top the crows are nesting.  Geese are parading in front of the cows, and the cows are eyeing the corn, which looks about ready for harvest.

All of these quilts include regular piecing, applique and paper piecing.  The instructions are very detailed and very clear.   The barnyard scenes will come to life in front of your eyes.   You can choose the line-up you like best and you can swap the flowers amongst the barnyards.  Have fun!
