Valentine Quilt Patterns

Our holiday section of quilt patterns includes a selection of Valentine patterns.

Time for Romance is perfect for Valentine’s Day, but would also make a great anniversary quilt.  Appliqued heart blocks and redwork embroidered heart blocks combine with pieced hour glass blocks for a 24″ square wall hanging.  Personalize this quilt by adding initials in the arrow pierced hearts.

For My Tweetheart…. a cute wallhanging with a cute name.  The two lovebirds have gone “out on a limb” for each other.   I love the “heart smoke” coming out of the chimney.  This is part of the Tiny Treasures series of twelve projects, one for each month.

These sweet Crazy Quilt Valentines have pockets to hold little notes.  Each pattern includes a story too.   They look like such fun… any little girl (big girls, too!) would love these and treasure them for years.

Hearts In Bloom is a 18″ tote pattern with simple piecing and easy applique.  It’s a bright, cheery tote you’ll love, and you’ll probably get lots of adoring comments…. better be ready to make a few as gifts!

A smorgasbord of Ribbons & Hearts…. this Bacon Bits ‘N Pieces pattern includes applique drawings and piecing guide, plus instructions for both hand applique or fusible; you can choose which method you prefer.  Did you notice the “key to my heart”?  Cute, huh?!

Check out the rest of the valentine themed quilt patterns… many of them are appropriate for year-round use.

Christmas Tree Skirt Patterns

Do you need a new Christmas Tree Skirt this year?  Here’s several suggestions…

Christmas Celebrations Tree Skirt will put presents under the tree before you even do any shopping!  Measuring 54″ x 54″, appliqued lights and candy canes with holly leaves are scattered among the presents.

You get lots of choices with the Tablecloth/Tree Skirt pattern from the Quilters Patch.  The 12″ squares can be pieced blocks, embroidered, appliqued or fussy cut a holiday print/scene.  Make a tree skirt or a tablecloth (or both!). Scallop the edges… or not! Your choice!

Kathleen Colleran designed this art deco looking elegant tree skirt.  It would make a terrific wall hanging as well.  Winterberry Star would work with other fabrics and could be a year-round wall hanging.

Poinsettia & Holly decorate this tree skirt.  The points look tricky but they are really easy to do with detailed instructions and lots of illustrations.  Two sizes, 52″ and 66″, so you can pick which would work best for your tree.

Got a soft spot for Scotties? Let them parade around your tree is this Scottie Tree Skirt.  Look, they are all dressed up for the occassion!  This American Jane pattern, designed by Sandy Clop, measures 50″ x 50″ and will be certain to be the envy of many of your dog loving friends.

Holly, Berries & Pine from Prairiegrove Peddler offers instructions for a 42″ tree skirt, a 16″ pillow, and a 17″ x 34″ table runner, all on a light background.  You could make the background a shade darker, and use brighter greens and reds for the holy and Berries.

There’s more! Check out the rest of the tree skirt patterns and pick a favorite.

Halloween Quilt Patterns

If you want your Halloween decorations to include quilts or other sewn items, better start sewing soon!

Hang this little quilt in your entryway and greet your guests with “Boo”!   It’s a simple pattern with a jack-o-lantern and a cat (black of course) in front of the word ‘Boo’.  You can do the applique by hand or machine.

The bats are flying, the candy is waiting, and someone is Carving the Pumpkin.  This easy to construct pattern shows the progess of the pumkin carving from top to bottom.  The pattern includes the eerie looking eyes (green buttons) for the bats.

It’s their busy season and every hard worker needs to kick it up and let out some tension occassionally.  They are having a well deserved Witches’ Night Out!  Have fun choosing fabric for their clothes, stockings, boots, and even their fingernails.

If you are planning a Halloween party, these table runners will surely set the mood for Halloween Haunts!

BFF – Trick or Treat is a quilt – and a toy!  Swap-lique is the new technique.  The appliques can be changed over and over.  The pattern includes 6 costumes, 5 hairdos and fun accessories.

Rainy Days and Rainbows

Spingtime means rain and rainbows.  While you are stuck inside waiting for the rainbows to appear, here’s a few patterns to keep you busy.

Grab some bright colorful charm squares and create this beautiful Rainbow Garden.   This pattern uses simple applique and no curved piecing.  What a cheerful quilt to decorate a little girl’s bedroom.

Bold fabric colors are showcased in Rainbow Crystals tablerunner and placemats.  There is no paper piecing or templates, just stack, slice and mix.  A great hostess gift and no two will be the same.

Hannah’s Rainbow quilt pattern is fat quarter friendly.  Moda Marbles, tone on tones, or very small print fabrics that read as solids work best.  The more different fabrics you use the more seamless the color transition will be. The rainbow binding really adds to the look.

Noah’s Big Job is an adorable wallhanghing that captures Noah as he prepares for the big rain.  Pair of animals are tucked in his pouch, he has a list in one hand and bird’s nest in the other.  Instructions are included for the rainbow sign and the wooden birds.

Rain, Rain Go Away is the April block from Indygo Junction’s Once Upon A Time… In The Country quilt.  It works as a small wallhanging all by itself.  I remember the next line of the saying as “Come again another day” – I like that it hasn’t been added – we wouldn’t mean it anyway!

Rainy Days by Bonnie Kaster will make you glad you are sewing and quilting instead of outside in the rain wrestling with your umbrella.   The silhouette applique shapes can be done by hand or machine.  You can almost feel the wind!

Welcome March!

It’s been a long winter and the month of March is surely welcome.  Spring will follow soon.  I’ve even seen a few crocuses’ leaves poking through the ground.  Have you seen any signs of Spring yet?  If not, here’s a few Spring quilt patterns to hold you until the real thing gets here.

Pieces of Spring is constructed with log cabin blocks and fusible applique. Pull out your spring fabrics and fussy cut squares for the border.  Then embellish with buttons galore and you have a quilt that will brighten any room.

Spring Row Quilt features flowers and bird houses and combines paper piecing and applique.  Ivy vines are climbing the poles on the bird houses.  This color way is fine, but wouldn’t this be fun with colorful scraps… leave the ivy vines and leaves green and then really play with color when sewing the flowers and bird houses.

Just nine 10″ blocks make up the Tulip Twirl!  Keep the green and change out the red with your favorite tulip color.  The tulip blocks and the swag border can be appliqued by hand or by machine.  Quilt finishes at 51″ x 51″ and would be just right to brighten up your breakfast nook or the three season room that you can start using again soon.

It BEE Spring is easy to piece, with Broken Dishes blocks in the center and Checkerboard blocks in the corners.  The rest of the quilt is abuzz with bees and flowers.  Your quilting becomes the bee flight path as they travel from flower to flower – how cute is that?!

That’s just four…. there are so many more Spring quilt patterns.  Go ahead and browse.  You’ll be sure to find one that you like.
