Baskets can be found in many quilts. And they always seem to hold good things. Usually flowers or fruit but sometimes you’ll find another surprise.

In Grandmother’s Flower Garder you’ll findGrandmother’s Flower Basket. An abbreviated version of the block creates the blooms growing out of the pots in this basket made of woven fabric tubes. Doesn’t it look cute in thirties fabrics?! And check out those corners… bet you’ve never done that before.

Pippa Moore of Kitambaa Designs created this wallhanging called simply Grace. An elegant basket overflowing with flowers. A few of them have fallen and lay at the base of the basket. Fusible applique with easy-to-follow instructions allows you to put this one together even if you are a relative beginner.

This Fruit Basket by Bonnie Sullivan of All Through the Night looks good enough to eat. A wool penny rug in bright colors, this will look great in your kitchen and will get those appetites revved up.

What a combination… colorful log cabin blocks (use up your scraps!) and a basket full of kitties equals an adorable Kitties Pillow. If you don’t want to stuff it, you can make it a wall hanging. Irresistable either way.

These Thimble Baskets are so cute I might have to take up hand sewing just so I can justify having one (or more!) of these around. How about you? These are begging for someone to play with color combinations. Hmmm, you could even make a “green and yellow basket.”

Fabric designer Faye Burgos creates beautiful floral collections for Marcus Brothers. One of her latest collections is Olde Cedar Chest. Large floral printin antique tones of brown and pink with a bit of sage green thrown in, anda small floral print in the same colors are the focus fabrics.

Subtle stripes appear on the background of the larger floral.

A plaid on the diagonal jazzes things up.

A green leafy print for a little pop.

This dot spattered printcomes with a pink background and a tan background.

This tone on tone also comes in pink.

Here’s a table topper from some of these fabrics. Measuring 36″ square, it’s quick and easy to make.

Pocket Quilt Patterns are a specialty with Briarwood Cottage. The pocket patterns are sold in small pocket size packages (4″ x 6″) and are mainly wall hangings or table toppers and they sell for only $5!
