“Cuppa” Tea Patterns

There’s nothing like a hot cup of tea on a cool autumn day.  Here’s a few quilt patterns that celebrate tea drinking.

This wall hanging of delicate Little Teapots can be embellished with doilies and teatowels.  You can also use cotton print fabrics.  Reverse applique is the method used for the teapots.  Designed by Ursula Riegel of Designs To Share With You with clear step-by-step instructions.

This Tea Cupboard has all the teapots, cups and saucers you’ll need and a cabinet to store them.  Use your scraps and have fun “designing” your own china.  This pattern will finish at 42″ X 60″ and uses paper piecing.

Tea Party is a delightful, bright table topper that you can make quickly and easily.  This wool felt project would make a perfect gift, either the pattern or the finished table topper, for that tea-drinking special friend.

Make a Tea Cozy and you can also make a trivet and runner to match.  The flower designs will make you feel like you have a little piece of Summer or Spring to hold you until the real thing returns!

Here’s a big project but you’ll love the finish.  Tea With Strawberries And Cream features twelve teapots with themes for each month of the year, plus six yummy recipes, such as Chocolate Dipped Strawberries and Chocolate Scones.  Mmmm, is your mouth watering yet?

And don’t these fabrics make you think of tea time?   Take a yard or two and add some greens or beiges and make your favorite pattern.

Ok, grab a “cuppa” tea and browse the rest of the quilt patterns.  Enjoy.

Birdie by Me & My Sister for Moda

Cute, colorful, adorable, playful . . . just a few words to describe the new Birdie fabric from Moda. It’s one of those fabrics that you just have to play with. The colors are so bright and cheerful.

100_5043The Birdie Charm Pack (5″ squares) has 42 pieces.  The predominant color is blue but there are also pinks, browns, yellows and greens.  Plus several with white background.

There are wiggly stripes of brown and blue.

Small print daisy-like flowers are found in the blues, greens and pinks.

Larger white daisy-like flowers are on tone-on-tone checkered backgrounds.

Even larger pink feathery flowers have birds nearby and are found on dotty backgrounds.

Simple, cute birdies are on dotty backgrounds and fancier birdies with scalloped wings are perched on curly cues.

Finally, there are “yolka-dots”!  Multi-colored dots that seem to use every color found in the collection.

100_5058b Charm packs make quick half square triangles and four square blocks, so you can finish a quilt right quick! Just add some white background and this fabric is just right for a new baby blanket.   Use more than one charm pack and make a quilt a little girl would love to have on her bed.

So, grab a charm pack (or more) and have some cheery fun.

If you need help getting started there are plenty of charm pack patterns.

Monday Madness – From Slippers to Evening Bags

Welcome back to Monday Madness – an eclectic selection of patterns.

It’s getting colder and you’re going to need to keep those feet warm! These “big foot” slippers are made using the Flannel Chenille technique. Sizes for everyone from x-small to x-large; from narrow to wide widths. Make a few extra for Christmas gifts. Who wouldn’t like a new pair of comfy slippers?

Churn Dash is a miniature quilt.  It finishes at 18 1/2″ square.  Use your scraps for this cute quilt.  You could make a few with different color variations and they would make a nice grouping.

The Happy Quilt is a 35 1/2″ square quilt that will brighten up any wall.  Easy triangle shortcuts are included in the pattern.

Straddling Scarecrow is enjoying the fall.  Just one in a series of Straddling characters, each one is constructed the same way and measures the same size.   Applique on a pieced background with borders to frame it all.

Dig out your scraps and make covers for scrapbooks, photo albums, paperbacks.  Plus instructions for bookbags, bookmarks, glass cases.  More than twenty projects are found in Scraps & Books & Covers.

Baby’s Bow Wow Blanket works as a wallhanging or to snuggle baby.  Easy four square blocks as star centers plus simple applique doggy pull toys make a whimsical quilt.  Make it scrappy or match the nursery’s color scheme.  Makes a great shower or new baby gift.

Kizmet Klutch comes in two sizes. Make the large one with bold fabrics for a casual bag for everyday use. Make the smaller one with more sedate fabrics for an evening bag.
