Don’t you just love to hang a quilt?!  That good feeling you get from finishing a quilt for yourself can only be topped by hanging it up for display.  Go ahead and spoil yourself – make a quilt a month!  There are several series of mini quilts that have a design for each month . . . .

Susan Michaels of Dragonfly Fiberart has been exploring fibers of some sort since she was a young child.  Although she won’t steer away from unusual materials, Susan considers herself to have more of a traditional aesthetic.  She focuses on “fast and fabulous designs for the creative spirits tight on time”.

Warm your heart and your home with a Valentine quilt.

Ribbons and Hearts is beautiful sampler style quilt.  The borders of alternating narrow and wide nicely frame all the wonderful busyness of the center of the quilt.  Choose your method of applique – hand or fusible.  This wall hanging finishes at 34″ x 38″.

This room was packed even before the critters found their way in!  Who Left The Door Open seems to be a legitimate question.  I don’t know about you, but I’m having trouble telling the interlopers from the decorations!

Prairie Moon is a combination of 8 pointed star blocks and Shoofly blocks.  Alternating the blocks in the quilt layout gives the allusion of curves and circles (moons), similiar to those seen in a Storm At Sea quilt, but a bit more subtly.

Strip pieced four patch blocks come together quickly to create March to Manassas.  This design would work with many different fabric styles - and each would change the whole feel of the quilt.  The small connecting squares that run over the entire quilt can be kept low key or use a strong contrasting color to really make that part of the design pop!

At first glance, you might think that each block in the On A Whim quilt is different, making it a sampler quilt.  Look closer – they are ALL the same block.  Swing in the Center is an ideal block for playing with different fabrics and fabric values.  Each change has the potential to change the entire look of the block.  FUN!

You might want to be sure you have a few quilts under your belt before attempting the Feathered Star Medallion pattern.  Accurate piecing skills are a must for this one.  Extra work, but the results will be so worth it – a beautiful piece of art!
